Successful Collaboration with IfW Kiel Extended

Cooperation with the Kiel Institute for World Economy (IfW Kiel) has been extended for another three years. In 2015, Kühne Logistics University (KLU) and IfW Kiel jointly appointed Dr. Christina Raasch Professor of Digital Economy. At IfW Kiel she is the expert on digitalization and innovation management at the Innovation and International Competition Research Center.

The professorship is located at KLU and connected to IfW Kiel via affiliation. KLU and IfW Kiel intersect in economic issues in the field of innovation and global value chains.

Joint DFG Project Evaluates Innovative Ideas

An important milestone in their previous collaboration was the approval by the German Research Foundation (DFG) of a joint research project that evaluates innovative ideas. “While previous research concentrated primarily on the generation of ideas, more recent research recognizes the significance of evaluation and selection. But with results in mind, it’s a matter of selecting the best ideas to implement, of course. Here our research contributes valuable approaches for companies and organizations,” Prof. Raasch explains. KLU Ph.D. candidate Johanna Schnier is engaged in the project, and she was a previous collaborator at the Innovation and International Competition Research Center.

Prof. Raasch Advises Federal Government on Logistics Innovation Program

In her research, Raasch analyzes how established and young companies can increase their innovatory success. She studies open innovation processes, including customers and employees. In 2020, the digital economy expert was appointed member of the Innovations Commission. In this function she advises the Federal Ministry of Transport and Digital Infrastructure (BMVI) on the Logistics 2030 Innovation Program.

Common Callings Support Discipline Diversity

KLU maintains joint professorships with other renowned partners, such as the Hasso Plattner Institute (Prof. Henrik Leopold) and the Kühne Center for Sustainable Globalization at the University of Zurich (Prof. Marcos Ritel) to broaden the scope of its academic disciplines. The aim is large disciplinary breadth with a thematic focus on supply chains and business management.
