KLU has become an United Nations Principles for Responsible Management Education (PRME) signatory. PRME is the most recognized sustainability initiative at business schools internationally. “As a PRME signatory, we will promote the role of management education in responsible management at all levels,” KLU President Thomas Strothotte said. PRME defines six principles. As sustainability is a main focus of KLU since its foundation more than ten years ago, KLU already now upholds the six PRME principles: purpose, values, method, research, partnership and dialogue. The university will regularly report its progress in aligning core functions and curriculum even more with PRME principles. Ulrike Schulz, Quality and Accreditation Manager & Coordinator for Sustainability, is in charge of the administration of PRME membership at KLU with the support of the Center for Sustainable Logistics and Supply Chain Management (CSLS).

Sustainability at KLU

Sustainability has been a priority for KLU since its foundation 2010. Embedded in its mission, sustainability is one of KLU’s main research areas with e.g. a research center devoted to it (CSLS). KLU especially seeks to educate and prepare students to become responsible leaders with the necessary skills to impact positively the sustainable transformation of our global economy and society. This includes the “Sustainable Management” Track within KLU’s Bachelor in Business Administration as well as KLU’s Executive Education and the Certificate in Sustainable Management and Operations – on offer soon.
