Benedikt Schwarzhaupt Wins Silver Again
KLU sport scholarship holder Benedikt Schwarzhaupt finished second with the German field hockey team at the EuroHockey Junior Championship in Ghent, Belgium. The second medal for his collection this year, he finished second in January at the FIH Junior World Cup in India.
"We're still a little disappointed that we didn't win the final. Especially for me, because it was my last game of my U-21 career. Overall, though, second place is great and I look back on a great time in the U-21s. In the future, I want to play for the titles with the senior squad," Schwarzhaupt said after the final against the Netherlands (1:3).
Although only a small consolation, a personal award at the tournament is worth mentioning. In addition to second place with the team, Schwarzhaupt secured first place on the goal scorer list.
Schwarzhaupt will be able to celebrate another personal award this summer, when he will receive his BSc in Business Administration from KLU.
“Benedikt is another good example that top-class sports and a top education go together if you create free space for sports through flexible solutions on the part of the university – as we do successfully with the sports scholarship program at KLU," KLU Sports Affairs Manager Johannes Dietz said.
