Vera and Robert won over the jury with their outstanding résumés, test scores, and extracurricular activities, and will now receive comprehensive support, e.g. regarding networking with firms. And the highlight: being listed in the WiWi-Talents Book, which is shipped to more than 500 HR representatives at prominent companies in the German-speaking countries every semester.
Vera Hoerauf, currently in the second semester of her Master’s in International Management program at KLU, is also Class Speaker, Student Representative and supports the selection commission with reviewing potential new students. “The award means a great deal to me. I think it’s wonderful that academic performance, work experience and volunteer work are recognized. It’s hardly self-explanatory that your university gives you the opportunity to become a well-rounded individual,” she says.
What she appreciates most about KLU is the international focus and the close contact with students from other countries. “Without the wonderful people at KLU, who teach me something new every day, I would have never learned how to combine such a high academic level with technical skills and state-of-the-art business practices,” she says. After graduating, she plans to work in corporate consulting and spur on the digitalization of the health sector. She could also imagine working as an independent consultant or founding a start-up.
Robert Marten Rings will complete his bachelor’s degree, with a focus on “Sustainable Management,” at KLU this semester. Ranked among the top ten percent of his class at KLU, when not studying, he regularly takes part in the students’ corporate consulting organization advisupply, the students’ club “UniKonnect,” or in volunteer activities organized by the student body.
“I’m very glad to have been selected as a WiWi-Talent, especially as recognition for all the hard work you have to put into your studies, extracurricular commitments, and gathering work experience at the same time,” he says. “My studies at KLU have given me a number of impulses for my professional and academic future, and I now have a much clearer understanding of my own strengths and interests.” After completing his bachelor’s, he plans to do a gap year at a strategic corporate consulting firm – ideally, one that will also give him the chance to pursue his passion for the aerospace and transport sector.
Prof. Alexander Himme, Academic Director of the KLU bachelor’s program, supported both students’ applications. “We at KLU are proud that, through Robert and Vera, both the bachelor’s and master’s programs are represented among the WiWi-Talents. They stand for many other outstanding students who contribute their talents to KLU and, in the course of their studies, hone them,” he says. “For Vera and Robert, my hope is that they will ultimately find positions in which they can optimally use their exceptional abilities – and not just for their own benefit, but for that of all their future colleagues.”

Since 2005, the WiWi-Talents program has offered students of business and related fields nationwide networking options with companies, so as to support the next generation of managers and professionals. Once inducted into the program, students receive comprehensive support and are listed in the WiWi-Talents Book, which is shipped to HR representatives at prominent companies in the German-speaking countries every semester. To apply, students must submit a résumé, outline of their personal career plan, and a letter of recommendation from their supervising professors. In 2017, Katja Weiße became the first KLU alum to be accepted into the program.
