EuroHockey U21 Championship 2026: KLU Students Win Silver Medal
Another athletic success for KLU: The men's U21 national team won the silver medal at the European Field Hockey Championship. The team included three current students and two prospective students from Kühne Logistics University (KLU). The tournament took place in Valencia from July 26 to August 1, 2026.

Three KLU Students on the U21 National Hockey Team
The German European Championship roster included three bachelor’s students who had just completed their second semester at KLU: Jonas von Gersum from the Harvestehuder Tennis and Hockey Club (HTHC), Ferdinand Steinebach from the Club an der Alster (DCadA), and Johann Wehnert from the Hamburg Polo Club.
All three had already won the world championship title with the German U21 national team in 2025 and were now back on the field together representing Germany.
Two Future Students and a Silver Medal
The trio was rounded out by John Dammertz and Vincent Scholz. Both will begin their bachelor’s degree programs at KLU in September 2026. John is from Berlin and will play for the Hamburg Polo Club starting next season. Vincent plays for the HTHC.
After a successful tournament, the German team reached the final. There, they lost to the Netherlands 1–4 and finished the European Championship as runners-up.
Balancing Studies and Competitive Sports
Sports play an important role at KLU and are an integral part of campus life. Kühne Logistics University supports its students in combining their academic goals with their involvement in sports. Whether it’s field hockey, sailing, or dressage—KLU students are active in numerous sports and consistently demonstrate discipline, team spirit, and resilience.
