RevLogStructure: Mehrweg zum Standard machen: Konzeption eines Betreibermodells für eine Reverse Logistics Infrastructure für Mehrweggebinde in der TakeAway-Branche
–Sandra Transchel
Despite ambitious initiatives by the industry and a growing number of start-ups with innovative reusable packaging concepts, scalability and, consequently, the widespread implementation of reusable packaging systems in the take-away sector remains challenging. In addition to the lack of acceptance by end customers due to the high variety and complexity of different reusable providers, the absence or lack of standardized reverse logistics is a key factor in this slow scaling. To implement reusable systems nationwide and thus sustainably reduce packaging waste, an effective and efficient reusable infrastructure with broad acceptance and integration of all stakeholders involved in the system (e.g., restaurateurs, retail, cleaning service providers, logistics service providers, and customers) is required. The goal of this project is to develop a simulation model to analyze a cross-provider reverse logistics infrastructure in the reusable take-away sector, involving all relevant stakeholders. This model supports the development of an operational model for general reusable systems, particularly as a tool for evaluating various factors, including processes, network structures, costs, and governance. Another part of the project involves scientific support in the development of the operational model, particularly process analysis, data evaluation, and assistance in formulating recommendations for action and dissemination.
